$5500? Ouch. I suppose it's got an extra octave and another two voices over the P6, but at that price I'd just wait for a good deal on a Jupiter-8...nice feature set, though.

Woah, that analog poly looks nice, is it black and white pics though or is that how it is because it looks kinda darth vader? Really like the layout though, I mean how many analog polys have a decent screen on them?

Also a 2-voice digital synth?!? Damn. I like the look of it but at that price and that limitation I just can't see the market myself.

Can't wait to hear that poly though :)

This is great news. Played the 002 at noisebug it does sound fantastic. $5200 is ridiculous but I think it's based on old conversion rates. Looking at the euro pricing the 002 should cost 4k usd, which is consistent with the listed 001 and 002r pricing. I will probably grab a 001 for only $500 more than a sub 37 - a bargain in my book. The build quality is beyond reproach. That black beast may require donating a kidney, but I'm willing to consider it.

He can't go for Dave Smith's throat when his synths are twice as expensive ^^ You'd have to donate your testicles to science to afford the 8-voice.

There are no more good deals on JP-8s... some are pushing over $10k these days.

I think you'll be waiting till the cows come home in that case. The last JP-8 I saw was $8500

To be fair people have been willing to pay far more for flaky old vintage synths for quite a while now, as much as I love them, I can see a market for this for sure.

The Andromeda wasn't exactly chump change when it came out either. :geek:

The 008 looks phenomenal!

I wonder if they'll release a 007...

Speaking of numbers, have the model numbers been explained? Or is it obvious?

I wouldn't have to donate, but I'm still not buying ;)

The Andromeda cost about the same when it came out as the Prophet08 and the big Yamaha Motif synths do now.
The Nordlead 3 was also at the same price as a new A6.

But Alesis was a pretty big brand with DJ equipment and speakers already, guess they had more funding for a crazy synth project than the Modal guys do.

And A6 has 16 analog voices with 2 separate filters and 2 VCOs for each voice. Granted, the guys who created that monster were madmen, but they did it anyway :) They didn't cut ANY corners.

My friend has an 002 and I can vouch for it certainly having "the sound". It's also beautifully designed and constructed. Well worth the money, and a 2-voice is an ideal route to that sound, cheaper and more compact, making a nice alternative to a TVS-1 atop your Mellotron 8-)

We are truly blessed living in this age of wonderful new analogues :D
