I saw that too! Oh, never mind the vague brown area where the keys should be... Give me top dollar please!

He never even mentions its missing the keyboard! Also says it uses Curtis CEM filter chips...which is wrong. :(

Well I offered him $5. Maybe I'll get it.

In fairness, he should have mentioned that this thing was found floating face down during Hurricane Katrina. Or at least that what it looks like!

I believe the Kawai "SX" line meant it SuX.

While it's fun to have a laugh at some random eBay seller, The SX 240 wasn't too terrible a machine. I can think of many, many worse. Also, While it is an extraordinary price, they do have "make offer" listed as an option - so I'd probably chalk this up to someone trying to get best dollar for something they likely have no clue about and can't be bothered do do some remedial searching to yield answers.

Also, this should probably go in the 'ridiculous ebay auctions' thread... which could have been found with a simple click or two also...

Honestly I love my kawai sx-240 so far. That guy is just out of touch with reality when it comes to prices. He sent me a ciuter offer of 1400...after messaging me and saying he would take no less than 1100.

"It's old, so it must be expensive" is the way of thinking I suppose. Sort of like retro video games when media reports that some rare NES game was sold for $30,000, they put up a Super Mario Bros cartridge for $1000 just to try.

Does the Kawai actually have Curtis components? I used to think it was SSM...

I liked the one I had. The sound wasn't anything special, but it was flexible enough to be the only board I used in one band. I made new end caps for mine (blue, of course) as one was damaged when I got it. That, of course, made it sound better than the stock models. :D

No idea on whether or not it used Curtis components.

I'd like to know the story behind this one; I'd give him two hundred bucks for the thing if it were fully functional, even with the key bed gone.

EDIT: I went ahead and sent him a message, asking for its story. I'll post what I hear back.
Muhahahahahahahahaha!

It does indeed use SSM chips. I wouldn't count on him taking a few hundred, he already told me lowest was $1100 heh. Though it would be worth a few hundred for parts.
