which analog synths complement your modern digital setup
Hi!
I don't know if its ok to change my thread- rather than just re-post a new one....
So here goes: I use the Yamaha motif ES rack, Softsynths and plugins and the Volca Keys myself and would like to add some older analog synths to my home studio.
I am wondering what others are using in their setup. If you have a mixture of digital and analog synths, what do you end up using the most?

Re: what analog synth is good & complements modern digital s
wow that is a wall of text....I can't say I read it all, here is my digital/analog combo
Roland MV8800 - Sequencer/sampler/drums
Controlling:
1. Alesis Fusion (workstation/piano/bread and butter sounds/pads)
2. Juno 106
3. Elektron A4
4. Moog Subphatty
Good blend of digital for 'realistic' sounds, slightly vintage analog poly (juno), modern analog punch (moog) and diversity (A4)

Re: what analog synth complements modern digital setup
thanks for your reply blavatsky. I think in my tiredness and much on my mind, my post ended up quazi-auto-biographical!
I find that things are more clear now and will re-post more succinctly and in different forum sections. I'm not sure though if I should have just started a new thread....

I typically turn to the MKS-70 in my mostly-digital studio.
I don't have any mono's though, if that's part of your equation. Strictly a poly guy.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Not sure how digital modern my setup is. I feel the Juno-106 sounds well (as in stand its own) in the mix of things.

A Boomstar and Ambika is a really sick combo.

Not sure I qualify, as a bass player first and foremost- but, I use a Blofeld as my digital "do it all" machine, and mostly rely on mostly analog monosynths for everything else. Moog's Phatty line, (any of them) are awesome for *that* type of sound, and the DSI line, Mopho, Evolver, etc are great choices if you want more motion to your sounds.

Evolver
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

Juno 60.
I think it's pretty hard to emulate that warmth and the immediacy of the interface which creates mojo in performance. It actually *feels* kind of digital compared to other analog VCO synths, but it has that Roland chorus which layers on some warmth (or muddiness sometimes).

Re: which analog synths complement your modern digital setup
I can cover a lot of analog ground with just my Mono/Poly and JX3P. I'm selling most of my other gear to fund a Korg Kronos. After that, I look forward to finally building a modular setup.
