What classic synth would you like to see Korg mini-ize next?

Post by ZeeOne » Mon May 18, 2015 9:01 am

I'd like to see a Mono/Poly mini, or perhaps a MaxiKorg 800DV (MiniKorg 800DV?)...

A full size Mono/Poly re-issue - as a kit.
Who has the rights to Buchla?

Buchla is still in business making modular gear. So that would be Buchla then.

There wouldn't be much room for downsizing Buchla modules, they're too packed with buttons, patch points and knobs already. Anything smaller than Eurorack doesn't exist in the modular world either I think?

Imagine downsizing this

You'd have to use a microscope to see anything on it then :D

Mate, I was having a "seniors moment".
I was trying to think of something out of production, and my brain went "...like a Serge or a Buchla..."

But seriously, a Mini-DSS-1 - sampling, with analog filters.

I think the rights to the name Buchla are currently being fought out in the courts...

Realistically a modern Mono/Poly would be awesome.

...unrealistically, how about a Synthi AKS for non-moronic prices? :D

2600. PS-3300. CS-80. I know a lot of folks would like to see the PolySix, as well as the Mono/Poly as Max says, realized again.

With the Prophet 6 and Roland JD-XA coming out soon, it seems like a scaled down Polysix would be the next logical release. Instead of a direct "mini" reissue, they should do something like this:

Korg Polyfive - $1,500
Five VCO voices instead of six
Four octaves of full-size keys instead of five octaves
Same features as the Polysix, but with MIDI/USB control
Patches can be also be saved and loaded through USB, allowing for online patch sharing

And they can even go the Dave Smith route with it. Korg PolyOne - $400

To be honest, what I'd really like to see is Korg slap together 2 or 3 Volca Keyses, add a couple more waveforms, and put them into some surplus MS2000 or Radias shells and give us a full size analog poly for around 900 USD...

Poly-800. While mini-keys are a deal-breaker for me in most cases, a strap-on instrument like the Poly-800 would benefit greatly from smaller keys. Of course, it'd have to have a filter per voice and the option of a saw or PWM in addition to that wonky square organ thing. Knobs would also help.

Would cannibalize the RK-100S, though.
