First, congratulations for having done such an impressive editor for the JV-1080. It’s wonderfully beautiful! I used it on my JV-1080 and it is so much easier to edit with your software than on the device itself with the front panel buttons.
I have two questions:

1) in order to run your software I downloaded the MAX application, it is now at version 7 but I could not find the runtime version only. It seems a full version with 30 days trial. Any idea how to use runtime only and then is a license still necessary to buy ?

2) I like the impressive big panel where every parameter of the common and 4 parts can be edited with dragging the mouse on the value but is it possible to assign any of these parameters to a midi controller instead of the mouse ? I have seen in your video that you use a Korg nanoKontrol 2 controller. I actually have the exact same controller and I was wondering how I can control multiple parameters in your editor with this device.

Thank you so much for reply and kudos again for this superb editor !
Cheers
Pietro
Thank you for using this!

1) answer
If your system is OK for installing older version of Max, I recommend Max5 or Max6. Because it is made with Max5.
Please google this words “max5 runtime” then jump to Older Max software download page.
After page appeared, find out “Max/MSP/Jitter 5” down the page.
Below the “Max/MSP/Jitter 5” line. You can’t miss “Download Mac Runtime 5.1.9” and “Download Windows Runtime 5.1.9”

2) answer
Now I’m still building this editor about MIDI-control and Rhythm Editor. But I have a good time for child-rearing. Please give me a few time. :D :D :D

Hi

This editor is amazing and I used to have an earlier version working on an older computer. However I have installed the latest version on a new computer with El Capitan and it doesn't seem to work. I have checked all MIDI connections (I can send & receive SYSEX fine). Is this an issue with the Mac OS?

I really hope you can let me know what is going on!

Thanks

I do not have a JV, but thank you for making this. People like you are the lifeblood of the vintage synth community. Each persons input makes us all stronger!

Thanks for this, particularly for making a Mac version. Brilliant job!

I recently rebuilt my studio omitting my JV1080. Looks like I'll need to get that baby hooked up again... My only gripe with this synth is the lack of basic oscillator waveforms, although I can imagine a lot of people will be making great patches now, is there an easy way to patch share?

Also, are you working on any other synth editors at the moment? I'd love a Casio VZ-10M or Yamaha TG-500 editor for Mac.

Checkout ctrlr.org it's that software/framework that we can all make editors for our synths, provided we have time and effort etc.
I'd love a Casio VZ-10M or Yamaha TG-500 editor for Mac.

Hi can anyone tell me if this works with the Roland SR-JV80-06 Dance expansion? I can't see it on the list?

Thanks

I made an Editor on Mac and PC for Roland JV-1080.
JV-1080 might be very old for now.
Old synth yes, but please compile it with support for older computer platforms as well which were used for that synth too. There is no point to have support only for the latest contemporary OS or windows versions.

I cant it use under WIN98SE at all, while people can still use win98se installers at new computer systems.

Thank you for downloading my app!
Please check some points below.
1, Connecting MIDI cables In & Out right? PC>>JV & JV>>PC
2, About receiving sysex. If your JV-1080 has old firmware you can not edit correctly some params. fixed firmware is on JV-1080 after serial number ZG61690.
3, Match Unit # No. on JV-1080 and on Editor.
4, Turn ON Rx.Exc & Tx.Edit at System Mode on JV-1080 manually.
5, Please try factory preset.
Please let me know again if you can't.
Hi,

Are your able to give more information on the match unit # on JV & editor?

I have all the connections set as above, but patch capture does not seem to work.

Thanks,

Worldofdub

hello!

I found this amazing editor today, wow! great work!
First I planned to buy a 1080 or 1010 but I wasnt 100% sure - now I am. Thanks to that editor. And of course to the fact, that 1080 has more to say than the 1010..

Concerning the things you wrote about the serial nr: I think I am not quite sure what you meant, module with serial Nr older than ZG61690 don't work at all? or just some particular parameters?

There are some affordable modules I could buy, but all with serials older than ZG61690. (like: BI29947, CI98742, CI53401, EL33631)
If theres just some trouble with parameters I wont use every day - no problem. But if I was not able to connect or synchronize patches and performance parts - that would be a problem and means I have to wait for the right module..

I downloaded the app and it seems to work on my mac, el capitan, max5 (of course I didnt try with a 1080)..

so far and thanks again.
Benjamin

Hello akatuystudio,
thank you for this wonderful app.
I was wondering: would you accept to share the original max patch? i want to add some features and interface it with other patches i've made.

wow ! This editor is amazing !!!
I've just bought a jv1080 so still have to get into it but wow love this, works flawless on osx sierra.

But even crazier is your dark time inspired sequencer plugin, i needed this so hard, it's lovely!
Could you develop into a midi instrument for Logic, ableton, ..? :)

Also just found out how the save button works on the sequencer, first save, you get a text file, then save as :)
and you can open load these text files

Hi Akatuy studio,

Thankyou very much for creating your amazing JV1080 editor , Ive had it since V1,but it would not open for a while since a later Mac OS /recent Max install etc

I just downloaded the update (& also your analogue sequencer) & it opens now & looks great as before.

I am looking forward to using it & the sequencer which also looks great.

Just showing appreciation for your kindness & great work,

may you be happy & well, Paul
