Help identifying synth rack late 80´s early 90´s
Dont know if this is the right Place... but
I am desperate to find a rack synth i used in the late 80´s early 90´s.
It was 1U high and had basically no buttons nor window at the front, and came with an editor for Atari ST.
Think the name was short, an abbrevation of some kind.
Does it ring any bells anyone?

What sounds did it make? Analog? Digital? Rompler? FM?
It was a 1u rack, but had *no* buttons or display? No buttons at all?
Color? Stereo, mono? Polyphonic? Monophonic? What else do you remember about it?
The only synth modules I can immediately think of that had no controls are the Roland boxes - not rackmount, cream, and they were basically an D110, U110, and both in cream boxes (CM64 was the biggest of the lot.)
Otherwise, there are plenty of synths with limited controls and displays, and no onboard editing, like the Oberheim Matrix-1000, Cheetah MS-6 and so on...

From SoundOnSound

• EVOLUTION SYNTHESIS EVS1
A strange instrument, this -- a British-designed synth module that attempted to offer stabs at several different synthesis systems, in a low-priced package -- £299 on its release in 1990. One of the forward-looking features of the EVS1 was the inclusion of free Atari ST editing software -- and you needed it, too, since one of the backward-looking features was the provision for only 20 user-programmable sounds. Make sure this software is included in the package if you purchase an EVS1, since editing is not merely inconvenient, but simply not possible without it.

I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

Those all have buttons and a display. The ADAP1 is the only thing, so far, that meets the criteria.

What about something from the Peavey Sepectrum line? Those were one unit racks with just a few knobs and no screen.

And maybe the OP will come back someday and tell us if it was any of the above

The Victor NS-T9 Organ Expander (made by JVC in 1989) has to be the most sparse module I've seen...but it's bigger than the 1U rack the OP remembers. It's a somewhat limited 2 DCO synth.

Love the MIDI channel selector dials. Better hope you don't need to adjust them often.
