Moog Mother 32 Eurorack synth voice
Moog are showing off their upcoming Mother32 Eurorack synth voice at Knobcon this weekend, no photos or video yet because they're not letting anyone take pictures, but apparently it'll be out in October. The 32 comes from the number of patch points the thing has, looks like a real analogue version of the Roland System 1 module, but with a step sequencer. 1x VCO, 1x VCF, $599. More details and pictures to come on Wednesday apparently.

Moog Eurorack, now that is real interesting.
$599 is like bargain basement pricing for Moog

I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

Cool. Love my Sub 37 but wish it had more ins/outs. Great price considering their Ladder module is $549 US.
Re: Moog Mother 32 Eurorack synth voice
Sounds like it could be pretty appealing! Like maybe Moog took the Werkstatt and upgraded it and added a sequencer. Maybe the Wekstatt would serve well as an extra VCO for the Mother 32.

that looks pretty cool, is it a eurack format meaning that you need a case and power, etc...? or is it stand alone?

Stand alone. Comes with it's own case and power but apparently you can also rack mount it.megamanx wrote:that looks pretty cool, is it a eurack format meaning that you need a case and power, etc...? or is it stand alone?

That's a great looking piece. I'm trying to figure out the mother name. Purely idiosyncratic? Did Mark Mothersbaugh have input? Is it another euphemism, such as moogerfooger? Am I again over-analyzing?

Re: Moog Mother 32 Eurorack synth voice
That's actually the only thing bugging me about it, I really don't like, or get that name. But I guess we'll find out all of the details tomorrow apparently!garranimal wrote:That's a great looking piece. I'm trying to figure out the mother name. Purely idiosyncratic? EDIT: And I think this is the page it's going to be at - http://www.moogmusic.com/products/semi- ... /mother-32

I heard it was also available without the case and power supply as a pure euro module.genshi wrote:Stand alone. Re: Moog Mother 32 Eurorack synth voice
When was the last time Moog put out a product without a dumb name? Sub37? Before that it was the Voyager. So that's a grand total of two products in the life of the company that didn't have names that a good amount of people thought were dumb. It's just how they do things.garranimal wrote:That's a great looking piece. I'm trying to figure out the mother name. Purely idiosyncratic? Did Mark Mothersbaugh have input? Edit: although maybe they're setting it up for a "motherboard" which is a keyboard you can plug multiple mothers into for polyphony?

Re: Moog Mother 32 Eurorack synth voice
Nope, that was mis-information and speculation; at least at Knobcon, not once did the Moog guys say that it would come without a case or power supply, it's just that since it's rack mountable, and has 3.5mm CV ins and outs, people automatically assumed "eurorack" module. I could be mistaken though, and that may actually be in Moog's plan... I guess we'll see in a few hours (hopefully.)Stab Frenzy wrote:I heard it was also available without the case and power supply as a pure euro module.genshi wrote:Stand alone. Here's a full-sized version of the leaked photo. (Click on it twice to really blow it up!)

Re: Moog Mother 32 Eurorack synth voice
I think this is the machine that has me break my 'no-buying' pledge....
The Avalon came close, but I think this could possibly push me over the edge.
Looking forward to seeing/hearing the finalised specs.

Come on Bennett.... Let's Party!
Re: Moog Mother 32 Eurorack synth voice
hmm. not impressed by the specs in that it doesn't seem to do anything new (at least from a quick look at it), but seems like a good value if you compare to what you'd need to invest in other eurorack modules to come up with the same set of features. plus, its got a cute little keyboard.
