Oxford Synthesiser Company Oscar Spare Partitions / ends

Post by johnny83 » Mon May 09, 2016 8:39 am

Hi,

I've inherited an Oscar with an unfortunate issue, it's missing one PU partition and the longer one has broken. Though it's not an issue with functionality I want to make sure it's 100% cosmetically as it No.8 that Chris put out.

Anyway I am speaking with a manufacturer on Monday about getting some parts made and rather than just use this myself I wanted to open it up to see if anyone else would be interested in purchasing kits for their own Oscar as either replacements or spares. I'm conscious only 1800 have been made but I have a few people who have already been in touch who would be interested. They would be to the same material spec as the original. I'm guessing it's PU or similar rather than rubber and I'll get them analysed and a cheap tool put down to run off however many sets people want to the original specifications.

Happy to ship worldwide. Likely it will be about 6-8 weeks to get them done.

If I'm not the first let me know as I'd really appreciate discussions with anyone who has tried or investigated before.

Thanks

Johnny

Apologies if you think this is the wrong section but I didn't want to put it in for sale yet as they are not for sale until I can confirm supply and give you some good news on a price. This is just to find out interest and get some feedback.

Nice work mate, always good to help others out. I'm sure there are people out there that need new rubber bits for their OSCars, I know the little partition on the front panel have a habit of disappearing.

Thanks, yeah I'm happy to ship these worldwide. Shame they're not readily available but they only made 2000 Oscars at most and I think Chris @ OSC struggled when he was initially producing these.

Well as much as I love the OSCar and respect the designers it has to be the worst mechanically built synth I've come across. Just not a solid "easy to work on" design at all.

Just hang on. I have the utmost confidence that Behringer will be making a full-size OSCar clone. I will be the first in line to get one.

Yeah, I've read it. Thing is I doubt they can do it. Many parts not available anymore, and if they do it will be some tic tac size version that is nothing like the real deal
