So the forum goes on drowning, and we only hope someone comes in with a lifejacket before it's last breath...
Ok, lets take a deep breath ourselves. Right now concern about the spam is warranted, but the last time I checked, no one has a crystal ball. We need to keep the catastrophizing in check.

We're lucky to have a number of excellent mods, and a large community of active members. Instead of letting the doomsday speculation get out of control, let's focus on supporting the people that keep VSE alive and well!
This looks like a psychotropic reaction. No wonder it's so popular...

Yeah it's a common acronym in the US. Originally applied to soldiers that that were missing but without a body to comfirm they were dead, they became listed as Missing In Action. After the Vietnam war there were stories (I don't know if true or apocryphal) about POWs never released so the POW/MIA idea and flag became a part of 70s/80s culture. Today it simply means no one knows where they are or how to contact them.
MIA = Missing In Action
KIA = Killed In Action

It would appear so... :oops:
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

ugh

finding myself visiting VSE less and less.

this feels like the last nail in the coffin.

in the beginning i came here because the only way to buy analog was on the 2nd hand market and VSE was a great guide in that.

now, with new analog flooding the market i find myself wandering from VSE.

truth be told, i'm working exclusively in the box lately (Maschine, Ableton) and even these new analogs no longer tempt me.

reasons for me to stay are waning.

either way, it's sad.

Makes no sense to get discouraged now.
What's needed are more threads started and less lurking.

Checking out a forum does nothing for the community.
Get active - talk about all the new synths out - or whatever.

I find forums are for those moments in-between actually working in or on music.

Also, the same arguments get tired after a while.
Everyone needs to have their argument experience over analog and digital and um....old verse new.
But you can only hash that out for so long before you lose interest.

And there's the "I need something" where there's a ton of knowledgeable people on here.
I like reading some old threads and do scan for some users avatars because I know they will contribute or be witty.
But it's not like there are a ton of new releases to gush over and speculate about.....

We spent years asking for new analogs and such and now they're here- maybe everyone has just chosen to shut up and use them instead of talking.

I have a horrible feeling that this was me. I apologise profusely and unreservedly; when deleting 10-15 pages of spam I think I made a mistake and deleted it. Everyone has their pictures still and so please start a new thread and I will be more careful next time!

Yeah, it's a shame. I was looking at it the other day and most of the pages were covered in spam. Someone cleaned it out pretty quickly but it sure isn't helping.

I thought it was getting sparse last year but man, things have really gone quiet here.

I like the Synthesizer Freaks FB page. It's way more supportive and positive than, say, GS. But then again, every other post is "What do you think about the MicroKorg?" Less of a community than this forum has been, though.

I'll just mention I've been here 11 years, that's an eternity in the synth world as you know. That's so long ago that I had bought and sold three modular synths before most of the world knew what Eurorack meant ;)

A lot of people are active while they're in a certain period where they are shopping gear and learning how to use it but once there's not a lot to hold their interest, they move on. I've seen this over and over again at different forums.

The spam isn't helping of course :oops:

Damn. I think while discussing a bleed problem yesterday (thus bumping the thread a few times), Adamstan's epic thread about his homebrewed polysynth ("Spare VCA: Polymod or Multimode VCF?" or sth like that) got deleted amongst some spam.

That is truly a pity, I feel terrible for having had a part in that :| :cry: :verymad:

I will repost, when I get somewhere with that issue. However it looks like you were correct - the bleed propagates thru horribly routed power lines. I swear, I'll never use autorouter again on voicecard! I was lucky two times, but the luck has just ended ;-)
