LOL...why dude? :? Seriously though, you can get a lite version of any of the major sequencers for 100$....
I actually have Logic Express. Just have to take some time to familiarize (and leave the comfort zone). GB is easy - and a fast fix when you only have an hour here or there to noodle around.

DJ setup is Ms. Pinky running on a Fujitsu Tablet with ESI U46DJ not a great digital I/O but gets the job done and has phono EQ inputs.
Recording setup is guitar/synth/drums > mixer > ESI U46DJ > Reaper (multi-track recording) on Fujitsu Tablet.
I'm looking to get a few masteing type racks with compression, gates. Eventually switch over to Cubase, all in due time.
Focusing on writing songs out and having it on paper first so that it can be performed live.

Hey, I noticed quite a few Motu 828, and ultralite folks on here, as well as firepod users...

I kinda impulse bought a Motu pre 8 this evening, as I need to record a track for a Tuesday deadline...I like that I can expand it with an 828 or any other Motu gear down the road...Normally I obsess over gear purchases, and weigh the pros and cons...looking at all the sweet mic pre's in the Pre 8 I missed the fact that it only has main outs...Doh...

I gotta say that it sounds great, and the Cuemix that comes with it seems super simple...I am just curious about adding external compressors, etc...sending in and out...am I ultimately going to need to get the 828?

I saw a lot of Cubase/Motu on the previous pages...anyone rocking _Performer_? I guess the impulse wasn't terrible...got the thing for $500, if I decide to add the 828, it's still cheaper than the Digi 003 rack...and I'll have a heap of inputs...

Are folks using outboard? I dream of owning a some compressors...where are people placing compressors in the signal path? Send and return? What about mastering? thx...

Just thinking I may need to pick up an 828 sooner than later...
