I'm not too sure about BPM because I don't sequence anything... If I had to guess, I'd say 90-100. The average length of my songs is around 2:30. Get in, do the thing, get out!

Usually 80-140, anything else is really too extreme for my tastes. I could probably even narrow that down to between 100-120 most of the time. As far as duration, I think the pop world got it right at about 3 minutes give or take 30 seconds. Anything shorter seems unfinished and anything longer seems to drag on. Of course there are always exceptions.

I work around 90bpms most of the time and like to have my songs end after 2 minutes.

140bpm almost exclusively, and song length is between 5-10 minutes. I'm writing Psy and Goa trance.

Brilliant in its simplicity! Topic, I mean.

Once I noted my songs' tempos and it turned out that I use 101 more often than anything. Maybe it has something to do with subconsious (not sub- anymore if I wrote it) wish to be a kid again and watch Disney cartoons more often...

Before I started making sequenced music, I listened mainly to blues (also before knowing that rock'n'roll/rockabilly is the best ) Back then I was able to judge the song by looking at its duration: I liked most which were about 3 minutes long and didn't the ones longer than 5.

My own songs are usually between 4 and 5:30 minutes long. I want them to be shorter, recently I treated one with brutal editing resulting in 3:05 and I like it a lot. It's too easy to loop everything infinitely, we need to fight it :!:

I kinda like 150bpm at the mo as it sits between techno (135-145) and Drum n bass (160+) so its an area that hasn’t really been overdone yet.

Duration is for as long as it keeps interesting or when its time to skin up or take a piss. :)

70-96 BPM (sometimes with enough 16ths and 32nds to be double the BPM).
3-5 minutes long.

120, its a common default setting for most my gear anyway. Will bump it around occasionally, but the average is probably still somewhere around 120, maybe a little less. 3 minute songs seem best for song length. When I've submitted songs to difrent folks one of their requirements often seems to be not to make it over that amount of time. I'll time the sucker down to 2:59.59 maybe minus a tenth of a second or two sometimes. I've been told it might be good to vary my tempos a little more too, I need to work at that, easy to be lazy on the tempo and just leave it at default, and then spend all that extra time I gain by editing canned patches.

I usually leave the bpm up to my fingers...

they used to tap at about 120...
they they would tap at 140....
lately they've been tapping 175...it's weird....

because whenever i think about it ...i don't think i'm tapping any faster (tap temp on my es-1)..

i usually just tap to sync up with the glitchy sounds the metasonix gear is making, then just run with it...

and the length ..is usually till i get bored with hearing what i've written...

ranging from ...2 minutes to 8 minutes...
...simply put..

Metasonix is the choice for all self respecting meta-humans...
(meta-humans currently known are trolls, orcs, dwarves, dragons.....)

At the moment I fancy slowish (100-115bpm) tempo and long(ish) duration (> 5 min.)

Yeah but both died a death many years ago and were more 145bmpish in my experience. I'm thinking more Analord styli!

Each are going strong. .

in fact rave / the 'proper' hardcore is rather on the resurgence at the moment under the name Hardcore Breaks.. loads of new labels starting up & some old ones reopening their doors. (no relation to the modern trancey sounding sped up hardcore)
