Mine should be arriving soon, I wanted to warm/punch etc. my VA's up for live gigs. I recently sold my JP8 and added a JP-8080 together with the Radias and Voyager AE for live use. Anything that I should be wary of, I am going into a Mackie CfX16.MKII and Yorkville 4040 amp to Yorkville Elite speakers (15" & 2" horn).
Pls no grief over the JP8, I owned it for over 20 years got a great price (2925cdn) and just wasn't using it much.
Anyone using a Speakeasy Vintage Rackmount Stereo Tube Pre?

OK, no grief over the JP-8, then. But, if you sell the Mini D, you know you won't be allowed to post here again, don't you?
yes, I recommend the speakeasy for warmth and punch. Mine is set up for a hot signal a la XK-3 so I haven't tried it yet with the new micron - maybe I'll give it a go tonight.
Let us know what you think.

I have one. It's really great for warming up ROMplers - it spends most of it's time strapped across the outputs of my ES8, but lately it's been closer to my M3. It's also been seen in the vicinity of my JD990 and V-Synth, and occasionally even does some drum track duty... 8)
Funny thing is I don't use it much on the analogs - if I want to tube those, I tend to track them (in mono) through the VIPre.

thanks guys, no fear the MiniD was my first synth I bought in the early 70's and we've been through to many road wars together. My son once asked why I keep "that old scratched up thing" took him to a bud's club, plugged into to the PA and let it sing. 15 yrs. later he is now 19 and planning on going into music production/engineering and wants to take the mini to school with him.
Have you both kept the stock tubes in it?

I have so far, but sooner or later I'll probably try it with some Groove Tubes...gd wrote:Have you both kept the stock tubes in it?

put it through its paces yesterday with both my Voyager and Radias at a concert hall. I luv it!!! Btw Dave, I had a brief discussion with Tony Banks this week in Toronto, and he obviously shares your luv of the JD990, I saw 2 of them in his live rig.
