Name ONE favorite pedal (+more)

Post by hageir » Tue Dec 04, 2007 6:27 pm

Ok, I'm lusting for some tiny pedals and stuff (mostly vintage)
and I've found a ton that I'm thinking about getting..
Including a Boss DM-2 analog delay (BBD), awesome, yes or no?

So, what's your favorite pedal?
you can name one favorite and a few other recommended ones..
(please, list your whole collection if you want :))

Mine has to be the Vintage Soviet Lell Parametric EQ, it's so crisp and "sand-papery?"
In Soviet Russia, pedal EQ you!

other than that my 80's Yamaha Multi-Band Distortion is awesome (on the evolver for example, CRAZY BUTTS!)
And the Yamaha CO-100 Compressor, it's nuts!
+ the cheap-a*s Johnson EAD-2 Analog Echo Delay 2 (was there ever a 1?) never seizes to amaze me with it's extreme lofi character..
here's a pic of some of them(check out how huge the soviet "brick" is :))

My favorite is the Metasonix TM-1 that I never should have sold. I also like the EH Memory Man, the Frostwave Sonic Alienator, the EH LPB 2ube, and the Boss DD-6 Digital Delay.
Korg Volcas / 6 x TE POs / MicroBrute / EH Space Drum & Crash Pad

i was playing thru my Yamaha MagicStomp UB99 earlier today.
Fully editing the 'fx patches' requires a computer, so many have slagged this pedal for difficulty of use. In my view, anyone that is comfortable USB-ing their gear to the PC should have a blast with this ( meaning , *ahem* - NOT most guitar players  ). Store the patches and go, similar to a Nord Modular in that respect. Only 3 params can be tweaked via the 3 knobs away from the PC, so this is the unit's one major design limitation. So you have to be careful how you save the patches if you need them to be real-time flexible, that's all.
Despite being a multi-fx pedal, it nevertheless has some extremely high-quality stuff. Remember the outstanding SPX Yamaha racks? The algos in here are up to the same level of quality. Very good digital reverb and delay...Very nice chorus/phaser/flange, plus a ring modulator that sounds fairly analog. There's also variable pitch-shifting preset called SpaceGun that is absolutely tits. Some patches have over two dozen parameters to tweak.

while playing in my last band, our rehearsal studio had dozens of fx pedals laying about. I tried them all, including the more recent Line6 and Boss pedals, and only the chorus of the venerable Boss ce-1 was sweeter than the UB99. Noisier to be sure....but the old 'Jazz Chorus' sound of the CE-1 is just pure gooey analog love... :)

I'll have to go with my electro harmonix deluxe memory man, there are some close seconds, but that pedal is crack to me. I use it on my synths, my guitar, and damn near everything else!
you can't fix stupid

My favourites are the Crowther Hot Cake and the Boss HM-2 Heavy Metal. Would love a BBD pedal but I've got a couple of rack units which do me fine for the moment.

I've been tickling the gas-pedal on this one for a while but never got to it..
is it a keeper?
why did you get rid of yours?
Carey M wrote:Boss DC-2 Dimension C
is it really 3d? :)
how does it work for synths?
analog?
filtermod wrote:I'll have to go with my electro harmonix deluxe memory man
doesn't it have the Panasonic MN3005?
the same as the dm-2 and the ad-9?
what is so great about them? :)
I've read that it's lush, smooth and silky and creamy.. and not so harsh as a digital delay.

Favorite Pedal
Analog: Frostwave Resonator
Digital: Frostwave Alienator
(The combination of the Alienator and the Resonator is absolutely SICK!!)

Favorite Rack
Analog: Ibanez AD202
Digital: Ensoniq DP/* (2/4/pro, doesn't matter - they are all AMAZING!!)
Worthy Mention: ADA STD-1 (that is stereo tapped delay you freaks)

Favorite Effect Chains
1) Ibanez AD202 > Boss CE-300
2) Frostwave Resonator > Frostwave Alienator (forget the LPF on the Alienator)
3) Washburn WRT-44 (all effects on)> DOD R-845 (I call this chain "Muddy Waters", murky goodness ;) )
Don't feed me Indian, you WILL regret it!

i used to have the dm2 and yes it is awesome. i have seen them go for up to $200 which is more than i think they are worth.

i currently have the dm3 that i paid $100 for and it's totally worth it. the dm3 isn't quite as (warm, round, delicious, insert pleasing adjective here) as the dm2, but its still pretty damn nice.

i like my line 6 echo park a lot. its got "analog"*, "tape"*, and "digital" settings that are all super awesome in their own way.

*all of these methods are actually digital, its just a different delay sound/technique

Boss DM100 for crazy sounds and Yamaha E1010 for smooth. Saw an AD-202 for sale a while back but it went before pay day. :( Since then I've made a promise to myself to buy any rack analogue delays I find.

I'd love an MF-104 but they're just out of my price range. I'd be happy with a 500ms one, they should bring them back for cheaper.
