Choice of Effects Processor

Post by mikewelch7 » Tue Jan 15, 2008 11:54 pm

Looking for some advice from others.

I have the option to acquire one of the following effects processor:

EVENTIDE H3000 D/SX ULTRA HARMONIZER or
TC ELECTRONICS FIREWORX

I'm looking for great reverb and other effects that I can use in both studio and a live setting. I would use it on synths, guitars and vocals.

If you could choose between them, which would you pick and why?

The Eventide, because it sounds great in a way the FireworX does not.

BUT

The reverb is not all that.

cheers,
Ian

+1

I like the reverb still, but the rest of what it can do is just amazing sounding.

if you can only get one or the other out of those, go with the eventide...

some additional thoughts for you below...

for reverb i reall like the kurzweil stuff, i just picked up a rumour, it's pretty damn great sounding on synths, it also has some simple chorus and delay on it as well.

for modulation and pitch type effects, i definitely prefer the eventide stuff, the eclipse is amazing for the price.

the tc effects just sound kinda bland to me, however the routing of fx chains in the fireworx is pretty cool.
