Yes, that would totally be cheating. And if the authorities catch you, they'll pull your synthesizer license.
Switches, knobs, buttons, LEDs, LCD screens, monitors, keys, mice, jacks, sockets. Now two joysticks!

I'm not sure what the question is. If you're asking "do you ever use rhythm presets?" then the answer is "sometimes," but rarely. It's not a question of cheating; it's just that most drum presets are pretty dull.

yeah, that is what i mean, it is also that in the m3 in combi there is some combis that have drums, patterns, backing riff, that don`t need a lot to make something out them, i guess you will use those as a regular loop or something like it.

if you want to spend all that money to sound exactly like someone else, then presets are your friend.
if you want to be more creative, then you learn to program your own sounds.

yeah right is like being a kid again messing with songs, until you get to the point where you know is something you like right. that`s also the way i like it, the fun way. i as just curious as if any of you use them.

as a rule, i delete all preset patterns/rhythms right away when i get a new piece of hardware. i will occasionally use preset samples/sounds/patches though if they are totally awesome or if i can't find them elsewhere. (having tons of software means i also have tons of preset sounds that mostly just take up space on my hard drive)

Presets on hardware generally are a piece of c**p, yet I gotta love machines like this one...

i think it's like using apple loops...

for example, the whole (nerd) world laughed bout rihannas umbrella

check apple loop: "vintage funk kit 02" (i think it was "02"...)

now that's not cheating, but it's just CHEAP

the whole beat is an apple loop.

check the original version of umbrella, i see there is a new one without beat

(i hope this youtube function works, if not, here's the link:

and i uploaded the apple loop here:

http://www.sendspace.com/file/g1622m

it was vintage funk kit 03, not 02...

of course, this doesnt interest the "normal" listeners, nor do they realize it. but it was a big laugh in the whole music scene...
