I also find these AKG's generally uncomfortable.

I use them every day, and they tend to last ~7 years. I'm on pair #3 since 1987.

cheers,

Another user of the 7506s here. I've had this pair for about 3-4 years without any real issues. Comfortable, too. I had a pair of Sony's prior to this that my brother gave me that were made during the 80s. The only thing that killed them was that the plastic band connecting the phones to the main band broke.

I'm more than happy with theses headphones. Extremly comfortable, with a very precise and dynamic sound. But like the K-701, a headphone amp is welcome to achieve the best sound possible.
It is much easier to be a good equipment purchaser than to be a great musician.

Have you considered the Audio Technica M50? The ONLY negative thing I've heard about them is that the ear pads can get a little sweaty - however they are extremely comfortable, sound excellent, and are built pretty well. I have a pair of HD280's that I recently broke. I will be replacing them with the M50's.

I mainly use a pair of Sony MDV R700s, they soften the highs quite a bit compared to other headphones, but I just like the way they sound.

Plus they're comfy.

Bose Tri-Port headphones. I'm sure they're not the highest of the high end but for 150 bucks, how light, how comfortable and with a great crisp clear, low end and overall sound, I think they're not too shabby.

Beyerdynamic DT770
No one cares, no one sympathizes,
so you just stay home and play synthesizers.

Another 7506 user here, I've been using them for a year and I love them, so confortable, nice sound too. Sometimes I wish I had a bigger pair.. maybe the big AKG... even if I got those, I would still use the 7506.

I also have some Sony MDR-V300 (the silver ones) I use these when I leave my home, they are getting old so I wouldn't mind much if they broke or got stolen, I kinda like them because they are small, but I wish they blocked the metro noise a bit more... hehe

These have a fantastic frequency response all over, surprisingly good considering the price. Plus it kind of feels like you're a radio worker during world war II when you wear them. Have had the previous generation SR-80's for 6 years now and love them still. These are great, non expensive, and for recording musicians they allow you to hear a very detailed sound. Highly recommended.
