Sennheiser HD515s. They're not bad, need to replace this pair someday though.

Re: Headphones - what do you use?
@Wiss, how are the K701's? Are they as close to perfection as you can get under $400? Them and HD600/HD650's are on my wish-list. I doubt I'd ever be able to try either before buying, which totally sucks. I've obviously read lots of opinions, but I'd love to hear some feedback from a fellow synth-head.
I get pretty good mileage out of my Beyerdynamic DT 250/250's and AKG K240S's, but my few gripes with them and aspiration to converge down to 1 super pair has me reaching for the next higher level.

1. They feel so good on, no ear sweat, no ear pinch, nothing like that...comfortRy-Fi wrote:@Wiss, how are the K701's? Are they as close to perfection as you can get under $400? 2. They are super clear and clean
3. Get yourself a headphone amp too....they deserve proper power.

Sennheiser HD215s. Probably wouldn't monitor through them, but they sound fine for tracking.

Re: Headphones - what do you use?
I use 7506s as well, I find them nice and comfortable and I know the sound of them quite well. I use them a lot, in the studio and doing live engineering, had them about 3-4 years and they're still going strong. They come in a bag which is good for keeping them from breaking, although I used to keep my old phones in a bag I made for them, it stops the lead from getting tangled on stuff in your bag and breaking.

Re: Headphones - what do you use?
Another Sony MDR-7506 user here, love them, comfortable, they're not too tight on the head but fit firmly. I think I've had these at least 10 years and they're still going strong.aeon wrote:Sony MDR-7506.
I use them every day, and they tend to last ~7 years. I'm on pair #3 since 1987.
cheers,
Ian

Re: Headphones - what do you use?
i have the MDR-7506 and the HD280. they're both very similar, sound-wise, but i find the Sony pair to be much more comfortable for long listening periods.

Re: Headphones - what do you use?

Well I've had these crappy 20 quid Behringer HPS3000 for 4 or 5 years now, they don't sound accurate but I like how they sound, they have plenty of bass. They're farting a bit now too when listening to really bassy tones. The plastic cracks easily on them so I've had to glue them together. They're actually made by Cosonic, some Chinese brand.
Also got some of these, Sennheiser HD-202, quite cheap (15 quid?):

They sound alright, not massively better than the Behringers but they're tight on my ears, no good for more than 5 or 10 minutes. The Behringer ones are very comfy.
I've always intended to buy some decent headphones but they're very much a matter of personal taste so it's hard to know what to get. I'm wary of spending a lot then hating them.

Re: Headphones - what do you use?
Currently, BeyerDynamic DT-150. I've had them for three years, they sound pretty even across the board, and they're easy to wear for a while.
I tried out some 770-Pro, but though they made everything sound really good, I wanted phones that were more true to the source. They'd be good for hi-fi listening I think, but not for mixing etc.

Having it. Liking it.xpander wrote:i've been using sony mdr-v600's for years now, i'm on my third pair (sooner or later i break 'em). someday i'll probably try out the high-end AKG headphones.
Re: Headphones - what do you use?
Using old gold AKG's, the K141's above, but as soon as money is there I'm moving to BeyerDynamic DT-110's. Although the Beyer's sound much better in the studio IMO, I don't think they get loud enough in some live settings.

Re: Headphones - what do you use?
How do you guys using the K141s find them comfort wise? I had a pair and found them really uncomfortable, but maybe that's cause I wear glasses. I left them behind at a gig one night and I'm now really glad I did.
