hi everybody!

my live set is building and need a good/cheap/small compressor. the rack format isn't the best.
i found the alesis nanocompressor looks nice and it has sidechain. is it usable?
ableton's compressor is my starting point in the sound i always put in the master, but i don't want to bring notebook/soundcard duo.
so need something after the mixer to compress my tracks.

ive used a presonus bluemax many times only because it is small and easy to pack.

Check out the FMR Really Nice Compressor. I have one and it is... really nice.

+1 on FMR. It's really cheap (I got it for free from a mate who didn't need it anymore). I used it a few times live and it's great, though I think live gigs are also nice uncompressed with the right gear... Anyway, that's the best bang for the buck that I can think of.

FMR RNC.. for it's sound, size and build quality.

Also, I've used an old DBX 118 on my Prophet 600 on our last tour and it worked great... doesn't quash the modulations to badly but helps tame the always louder-as-you-go-up-the-keyboard effect... and fattens the bass.

I used to have one and it's usable. It is limited to stereo operation (no dual mono).

smashup is dirt cheap & fun, can do some crazier stuff w/ it. RNC & RNLA are nice, i've had 'em before but just use plugins now. girl i'm friends w/ just put an RNC up for sale for just a buck twenty. if you aren't a member over there & want me to drop her a line, say the word.
