New powered monitor suggestions?
I've been using a pair of KRK Rokit 5 (1st gen) for some time, and thought they were fine until one just crapped out on me recently.
I was thinking of just getting a replacement, or even moving to a slightly bigger size like the 6s, but then figured, if I'm going to replace the pair, maybe I should investigate other options first.
I was hoping to find a pair of 6s for $300 or less, so with that price range in mind, do people have any suggestions for other powered monitors that might trump the KRKs? These were my first proper monitors, so I don't have a lot to compare against.

I wouldn't recommend anything in that price range. Might as well save some more money and get something that's an improvement, once you use decent monitors you'll never go back.

Kind of imagined you'd say that!
I agree, better monitors are a good idea, but let's just hypothetically pretend I could only spend $300 for now..

Actually, it looks like you can occasionally find the Adams for less...

In that case I'd just replace or repair the one KRK that's broken and use that until you can do a decent upgrade.Sir Ruff wrote:Kind of imagined you'd say that!![]()

for a little bit more you can get some studio precision 8's(if you can find them: you'd be suprised). i've bought two pairs of event asp8's (aka studio precision 8) in the past week. guitar center didn't pack the first ones properly and ups destroyed them. i was afraid i'd never find another pair but luckily there was another set on ebay. long story short: asp8. really makes it easy to want to track and mix(and just plain listen)
[edit] noticed 6" in op: asp6 is in your price range, but may be harder to find.
