You can find EHX Cathedral on eBay for <$200. I paid around $150 for mine, and I love it. It has become the one pedal that I use on absolutely everything.
Comparison is the thief of joy.

I currently have 4 units in use, all of which are absolutely satisfactory for my purposes, and not too expensive:

1) Alesis Microverb III - connected to my 6 channel Ibanez mixer, which I mainly use as a microphone preamp for recording vocals, sax, trombone, and hand percussion such as djembe, tablas, cajon, etc. Should be around $100.
2) Alesis Nanoverb - in my synth section, paid €50. I have built a little switchbox with 4 inputs for my synths and the theremin, and a switchable passive effects loop linking an Ibanez analog chorus pedal and the Nanoverb if I want to.
3) Furman RV-1 spring reverb - in my guitar setup. Might be over $200 today, there is one on ebay.com with $225 starting bid.
4) Vesta Fire DIG410 digital delay - also in my guitar setup (there are eBay offers asking $300+, though  ).
Don't forget to TURN ON THE SYNTHESIZER. Often this is the reason why you get no sound out of it. - ARP 2600 manual, 1971

Lexicon LXP-15 II...Lexicon.. Old Lexicon.. Jazz.. Nice

Sony HR-MP5...The little brother to the awesome DPS-v77, even has a built in clock and calender what more can you want?!

Alesis Midiverb 1... The original and best! Instant 90's WARP and Selected Ambient Works, I got mine for £24. Make sure it comes with the crazy PSU or it's a nice plastic paper weight.

Tamtec Madrack D7. Really short delays but can colour an instrument beautifully.
I love the ones in the A4 too.

They're such great value these days.

I just picked up a TC HOF mini the other day and it pretty great for the price. Plug the iPad into it and it's a full on flexible reverb with control of a lot of parameters.

The Minifooger Delay really is superb for the price. It has a really nice character, the drive is a huge plus, and even when you crank the feedback it still sounds almost musical. I'd say you have to pair with an expression pedal to get the full breadth of the pedal.
Some keys I have: Yamaha CS20M, ARP Axxe, Chroma Polaris, Roland Juno 60, Vermona DRMMKII, Roland R8, Sequential Circuits Pro-One, x0xbox, Terratec MB 33 II Superbass, Kurzweil SP88.

If you are looking at the MPX500 then get the MPX550, it's basically the 2.0 version of the MPX500. The sound, the front panel controls and the connections are identical but it has more presets and more user memory and bug-fixed improved software. I just got one for 120 Euros and I'm very happy with it.

For clean reverb tails and as mastering reverb and delay effects

1. Behringer V-VERB 2496 ( 100USD when those were for sale) (you still have to re-cap and secure its cables though as it has build flaws).
2. Behringer Virtualizer 2496 (100 USD) (this one has very good build quality, never needed to open it)

For anything other than reverb
1. Alesis Midiverb III or
2. Alesis Midiverb IV ( 100 USD)

I'm a big fan of the Yamaha SPX 50D. It's cheap, and it can do a 99 second reverb time! Sounds great too, nice and warm.

I also have an Aria DEX-100 delay I got from Nuke it that I like. It has lots of hands on control, and a great sound! :drinks:
This looks like a psychotropic reaction. No wonder it's so popular...
