Realistic/Moog MG1 vs. Sequential Pro One
More so just for fun than an actual answer. I am interested in any opinions. I was talked out of buying an MG 1 by a friend a few weeks ago so now to see what other people feel.

Re: Realistic/Moog MG1 vs. Sequential Pro One
Yeah Pro One for sure. Unless you like the sound of the MG-1 more of course...
Re: Realistic/Moog MG1 vs. Sequential Pro One
Of course the MG-1 would have cost half what a Pro One likely will ....

You have a Pro One, but you should have gotten the MG-1 too. I would say that they both provide extremely different sounds, and you should have both.sequentialsoftshock wrote:More so just for fun than an actual answer. I am interested in any opinions. No one should ever talk you out of getting an MG-1... you simply won't find a cheaper analog synth with that level of features.

Well, I wasn't talkesout of buying this one. A guy was selling one locally for $300. I was going to jump on it until he told me it had a lot of problems. I waited a few days, shot him an offer of $250 and it was sold.
I was just talked out of getting one immediately after.

Your sense of timing however, is a great disappointment to many people.

Re: Realistic/Moog MG1 vs. Sequential Pro One
Right now i'd rather an MG-1, but if I didnt already have the synths I have, I'd probably go for the pro-one.

Time to throw a spanner here, only my view no matter how you play /change sound on a Pro -One, it always sounds like a Pro-One , but a MG-1 has guts and sounds better than you think, the MG-1 can easily be overlooked not everyone knows it was made by Moog, i remember here in England in the 80s in Tandy Store in stock of them, RadioShack of course in the USA, they sounded great then and still do now, MG-1 on this one.

And that's why we love it!bochelli wrote:no matter how you play /change sound on a Pro -One, it always sounds like a Pro-One

Actually, and being serious, it seems to me that all synthesizers, especially analogs (and esp. vintage analogs), have an underlying tone that pervades everything. Which is also why, after all the endless discussion about features, internals, chips, functions etc., it always ends up coming down to that tone. You gotta like the tone first. Everything else (in my view) is secondary...
