korg poly-800 vs. korg dw-8000
Which one sounds better? I have a poly-800 that I have had for a long time and I enjoy playing with the interval set on fifth notes. Thats pretty much the only way i like it with that synth. Can the dw 8000 do that? Other than that, tell me your input.

If I knew what playing with the interval on 7 out of 12 meant, maybe I could give you an answer

I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

I would take the DW8000 over the Poly800. The DW8000 seems to be able to create a wider variety of timbres and has a conventional one-filter-per voice structure as opposed to the Poly800's one-filter-for-all-voices.

dw-8000 all the way. i picked up one from tallowwaters quite awhile back, and still use it. the damn thing can create some very cool sounds that i have yet to hear another synth do. to me its a rare gem, highly underrated.

I have no idea either what that interval -thing meant.
I'm not sure if anyone has used a Poly-800 on an album, unless it's been some sort of lo-fi / gadgety stuff. It can be certainly used for layering in a mix, but whenever I've used mine - an EX-800, actually - for leads I've just ended up taking those tracks off in the end. It has a brittle sound that usually works against the rest of the mix. The problem isn't the filter, it's the incredibly weak oscillator section.
I've been also intending to replace it with an EX-8000 or a Matrix-1000.

sorry about all that interval bullshit. I figured it out.. the poly 800 has interval settings from 0 to 12. 7 being a perfect 5th.. Ill admit that what i said was pretty damn unclear:) thanks

oh that's fair... bring up a band that has access to every godlike thing on earth.... WITH the producers to make them sound as top notch as they possibly can
