JV-1080 vs. JV-2080

I'm thinking about buying a JV-1080 again, but are there any significant differences between it and the 2080 sound-wise that I should be aware of? The 2080 is generally about $100 more and I'm just wondering if that's worth it.

I loaded in all the factory patches from the 2080 in my 1080 and they sounded completely similar (just as awesome!) to the demos of the 2080 on synthmania, so my guess would be that there are few or no differences.

As far as I know, you're just paying for 4 extra expansion slots.

This maybe a stupid question from me, a F.N.G. but how did you accomplish that?

I did it too. Both machines are almost identical and therefore share the same sysex implementation; anything that is 2080-specific (mainly the additional effect) is just ignored by the 1080.

The main functional difference is the display, and the 3 EFX inserts.
There's some chatter about the 1080 sounding "better" than the 2080, but I'm not sure about that - any difference in sound at output can be fixed in the desk (if indeed the is any difference).
