Hello. I am impressed with the Machinedrum sounds. I want one. But.....

I was wondering if someone could fill me in what the difference(s) between the Machinedrum and the Machinedrum UW is/are?

Also is the UW worth the extra $500?

Thank you!

You'll probably get a better response over at the elektron-users forum. But, IMHO the UW version is the way to go. You get 12bit crunch whenever you need it and to resample the internal machines and sequences and then mangling them very quickly and easily is so much fun and very rewarding. It really opens things up for this machine and with the +drive, storage is no longer an issue. You'll just crave the UW after a few weeks with the non-UW like many others have. The MDUW changed my whole world of music making. I was shocked that a single piece of gear could move me like that. Just got my octatrack yesterday too and I'm super stoked!!!

The UW is worth every penny. Not just for loading samples in mem, but mainly for the superb live-sampling feature!

definately get the UW. I was in the same boat as you when I got mine, would it be worth the extra $500? mine is old now, but even without the +Drive I'd say it was well worth it, I'm sure you'll lust for the UW if you get the regular version :)
