Im also having a hard time deciding between these two :? Ive just sold my Novation Nova II because i only really could get something i liked out of 10/100 patches. Im not too big on that ravey techno sound there is in every synth demo. Should i get the Mopho x4 or the Sledge?

get both, both are way different synths and will complement each other, or to save money get the sledge and a tetra wich is a 4x mopho desktop version.

I'm playing in a soul/funk band. And this is the synth i choose, to complete my stage piano. For basses, i still have a Moog Prodigy. I prefet it over the Mopho X4 for these kind of funky basses. But for brasses, stabs, pads, the X4 is really good.

It is much easier to be a good equipment purchaser than to be a great musician.
