I'll let you know when Akai fixes the bass synth. For now it's pretty useless.

Discounting the broken bass synth, the only thing Akai wins on is the sequencer and pads.

Sound wise Korg all the way. The parameters on the Rhythm Wolf are pretty narrow, you can do a lot more with the Korgs.

I'd go with the Volcas almost no contest, sound-wise. The Bass model is great. The bass synth on the Rhythm Wolf seemed very wimpy when I played with it for a while. The percussion on the Wolf is another story, and you can sequence longer patterns than the Beats. But...Beats + Bass is my recommendation.

I'd go with the Rhythm Wolf and the Volca Bass.

The Volca Bass easily beats the bass section of the Akai (based on demos of the Akai and owning the Volca).
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.
