trimming a keyboard stand?

Postby Ashe37 » Sun Nov 26, 2017 4:45 am

So i need a good keyboard stand sized for 61 key keyboards. I'm looking at the Jaspers 3R series of wheeled stands.

Problem is, the smallest one commonly available is the 120. I'd like the 105, but it costs *more* than the 120, and takes extra time because Thomann doesnt actually carry it.

(I'm having to give up my A-stand because its too wide to fit in my room)

Is there a way to just trim 15mm from the horizontal supports to fit?

I use USS Apache and On Stage KS-7903 stands, but I take the 48" (122cm) long horizontal beams and cut them down to 44" (112cm) to save space which leaves enough room for most, if not all, 61 key keyboards including my JP-8.

Used my electric miter saw. I'm sure a circular power saw or even a manual saw with metal cutting blade in a miter box would work, too.

I supposed that might work, too. I just used what I had available.

You can also order the alu tubes in any custom size from the Jaspers site. At least it was possible some years ago :)

Cheers :drinks:

I trimmed my Jaspers 140-3r to around 100cm using a basic pipecutter...the ones you just rotate around the tube until it cuts through.....worked fine!
