Buying a synth in Canada, need help.

I'm planning on crossing from the US into Canada, and buying a synth for 1000 USD. Has anyone here done this? I'm asking because I want to get an estimate of taxes, duties, or whatever I will have to pay to bring it into the US. It is a yamaha, so not made in Canada, or a Nafta country.

I don't recall the exact specifics, but if it's used, you didn't buy it at a store, you're buying for personal reasons (not to resell), and it's over something like 3 or 5 years, there are no duties. I think you have to meet something like 3 out of 4 of those criteria, I'm not exactly sure, it's fuzzy. Get a bill of sale from the seller.

It's no more than 6% regardless, so you could use that for planning if you had to pay the full rate.
