Help picking synth.

Post by CuBulo » Thu Jul 03, 2008 9:08 pm

I need help picking a new synth. At first I wanted the Novation Bass Station but I want to see if there is better first.
*It needs to be under 300$
*I really like Daft Punk so I would like it to sound daft punk like if possible.
*I really like the kinda old look. (not minimoog old look) Kinda like the Novation B-station look.
*I can be a rack or a keyboard.
*It cant be MicroKorg or Korg R3.
Please tell me if there is one with all these features or just about all of them.

Instinctively, if you don't want the mK or R3, you may still have to spend a bit more than $300 dollars for those features. Have you thought about the original tabletop Evolver?
The greatest thing we ever have is the will to survive.

This might get locked, if it does, make a post in the help buying synth sticky.

That said, MS2000 or Ion? I'm not sure how much the latter is going for these days but MS2000s are pretty easy to come by at a good price as of late, and as a first synth (I'm guessing this is your first) you'll probably want something with a lot of knobs as it's easier to figure out than menu-diving.

It isnt my first synth. My first synth was the Korg R3. I just really love synths and my R3 needs a buddy.

You need a drum machine or sampler (or both).

What about a used ESX? You can use them as a drum machine, and sample your R3 or etc.

Does it need a rack to work.
If not I will save up my money to buy the bass station rack.
No, the rack is just a case. There's actually a guy selling a Bassstation rack over at Harmony Central KSS right now for $185 which is a pretty good price.

under $300 bucks, your R3 can control it........
