WARNING: SOCAL BUYERS

Post by 23 » Mon Oct 27, 2008 4:47 pm

I know this is technically the wrong area to post this, but I'm simply posting it here as I do think it warrants a strong note of caution and this is simply the highest traffic area.

Some shop in Cali seems to be trying to pull a fast one on people or something.
I suggest anyone in the California L.A. area be notably cautious on these folks.

I mean they are advertising all sorts of weird stuff for sale. Take for example:
A. 1984 Kurzweil K-2000
B. 1984 Kurzweil K-2600
C. 1976 Roland D-70

What's weird about those examples?
Well for starters, the K-2000 was originally made in the early 1990s.... that's hitting around a good 6 years (at the least) AFTER the production year these folks are touting.
The Kurzweil K-2600 saw production begin in the early 2000s, that's a good 16 years after what these folks are claiming.
The Roland D-70 came out some time around the late 80s and early 90s, which puts that over a decade after when these folks are claiming. Not only that, less you argue some oddities like the PPG synths, there weren't really ROM based synths even floating around in back then (in fact I don't even think PPG was around in 76).

There prices on some things are a bit weird to. Take the K-2000 for example, they are trying to sell the thing for darn near a grand when they can fairly easily be found for half that price!

I mean WTF????
This just has S-C-A-M written all over it

Timewarp is a legit store from which I have bought gear in the past. Prices are negotiable.

I have bought stuff from them in the past, guitars and effects..... their webpage has been jacked from day one. I know they once had a store in West L.A.. I am not sure if they have a store anymore...the owner is a really nice guy

This still belongs in the Buyer's guide - I've left a shadow in General.
I didn't get where I am today by posting on internet forums.

respect.

the 1984 K2000 is way better than the one that came out in the nineties.
