What synth(s) would you blow it on and why? You do not have to spend all of it but can if you want to, and used gear from ebay or a generally regular VSE price is fine.
Just trying to figure out what the reasonable options are in that range. The MEK looks and sounds pretty damn nice, but polyphony looks nice too.

Re: If you had $1,000-$1,200
Depends on what you already have and need. The MEK is a lot of fun and very unique. The little phatty is hard to pass up if you need a good "traditional" analog mono with some nice modern features. You might be able to pick up a desktop P'08. The Virus snow is a cheap way to get into virus TI. The future retro XS looks like a lot of fun...
If I personally had $1200 that I knew I was going to spend on a synth right now (I just bought a Polar minutes ago so that doesn't count) I would probably consider selling the LP and using the money to upgrade to a used Voyager.

I already have an MEK, but if I didn't probably that. Of what's on offer now I'd be looking at a Blofeld keyboard of FutureRetro XS. Second-hand V-Synths are less than that too, but I've already got one of those as well.

Well... I spent the $1,200 on a Little Phatty. I had been feeling the need for a good lead/bass synth and it fit the bill nicely.

I would buy a FR XS if I didn't have one already. I think I would buy some modular gear with that money. I would probably buy Zebra also.

If I had $1,200 bones...I would keep saving for an ARP 2600. But if that's what I had to work with then:
V-Synth XT
Moog Source+Korg Polysix
Korg Polysix+Korg Stage Echo
FR XS
Nord G2(not 100% on that)

Nord G2(not 100% on that)

Seems to be a slightly tall order. Don't Sources usually go for $800+ and Polysixs in good shape around $700?RobotHeroes wrote: Moog Source+Korg Polysix

On eBay a Source went for the ridiculous sum of $1,500 not too long ago.otto wrote:Seems to be a slightly tall order. Don't Sources usually go for $800+ and Polysixs in good shape around $700?RobotHeroes wrote: Moog Source+Korg Polysix

I would sit on it and wait, then go for the kill!!!
Some of the synths I got for well under 1,200:
Ob8
SH 7
Prophet5
You could start a modular system too.

Re: If you had $1,000.00-$1,200.00
well, personally, i'd likely buy a drum box. i've been starting to look at some of the Jomox boxes lately. but synths? i'd consider one of the following:
Nord Lead 2x
Nord G2
Moog LP
Virus C/TI (haven't really priced these lately)
MC-202
SH-101
Nord Lead 2x

MC-202
SH-101

Those Jomox boxes look tempting indeed. Hadn't thought of those at all.
I've seen some Prophet 08 vids and they look fantastic.

if i had $1200 to toss w/o worry right now i'd probably try for a jupiter 6.
i'd say an XS, but i'd rather wait for a good deal on one... and not to bring up that thread but to wait and see what the h**l FR's putting out next...

I'd save/sell a bit more, and go for a used Andromeda.
