Adding a Nord Lead 3 to my Nord Lead2X setup

Post by Murderhausen » Tue Mar 24, 2009 10:55 pm

I've searched the forums and found a couple things regarding older Nord Leads versus new ones, but I want to hear opinions from people who have specifically had the Nord Lead 2X and then used the Nord Lead 3. Most of the reviews of the 3 online absolutely rave about the instrument, but it looks to me that it might be more versatile while sounding less analogue than the 2X.

More versatile less analogue? Is that to say you've used the 2X extensively?

i used to own a 2x

they are both very digital sounding to me, but the 3 is definitely an entirely different sound from a 2x

the 3 offers much more, a proper arpeggiator that doesnt sacrifice an LFO, 4 operator FM synthesis, oscillators with built in sync oscillators so you can have two different syncs running, multi filters, more filter types, etc...

plus the awesome interface

its the better instrument by far

I liked the 2x better,

the 3 is very thin sounding, lacks a lot of low end, and has a very very crisp and biting high end

it has cooler filters and modulation options, but based on raw sound, the 2x is much much better to my ears

the 3 is very digital whereas the 2x can sound convincingly analog.
But you said this in October!! :^o
