Midi/CV interface or CSQ sequencer?

Hi, I have need to record some sequences and tracks using my Roland Sh2. I could:

1-Buy a midi/CV interface which memorizes the settings, such as a Kenton Pro Solo (or other models with the same feature, if you know please tell me). They are quite expensive.

2-Buy a CSQ sequencer, which should be cheaper and has a midi port, but I can't understand the function of this midi port.
Is it possible to use any CSQ sequencer with cubase or any other software wich sends/receive midi datas to/from the sh2?
Are they easy to use and versatile? Limitations (except for the number of notes and tracks)?

3-Alternatives?

What settings does the Kenton remember? If you're just buying it for the SH-2, you'll be paying for features you can't use like the filter CV. Second hand you might find a Philip Rees Little MCV or a Groove M2CV for less

Yes, in fact the kenton has so many features that I won't use. The only thing I need is to memorize calibration (something about tune, if I understood), in order to avoid problems, is it possible with the Philip Rees and Groove Electronics Mcvs? Thanks.

If I understand what you're getting at, yes, both the rees and the groove memorise calibration, as it's done by adjusting a trim pot. The Philip Rees would probably be ideal for you, as it has the features you want and nothing more (except for an LFO feature that I'm not clear about), it's simple, and it shouldn't cost much. It's probably easier to find than the Groove too, although if you're interested, I have half a mind to sell my Groove. It can control 2 synths, and has loads of options, but it's quite confusing at first. Apparently it was the converter inside the EDP Wasp. Here's a review of the Rees: little mcv

Thank you, the Philip Rees was very cheap but it was discontinued, I have to decide.

Other opinions are welcome, expecially for the CSQ sequencer which I still don't know.

Hello,
CSQ 600 hasn't got a midi port.
The single 5 pin din port it has, is a sync out port (Roland pre-midi system)
It is a system to connect other Roland drum machines or step synths sequencer ( mc-202/ tb 303) of the first half of 80s.
It trasmits only tempo and start/stop messages. No note.

1-Should I use 2 mono audio cables to send cv and gate signals to the sh2?
2-May I buy two "low quality" cables?

Yes, low quality will be fine. As long as it's not really low quality!

No, it's a 2nd hand mark 1. For around 100€ I think it is a good price for a nice midi/cv interface.

Cool. You saved €85 compared to a mark II new from Kenton. The only real advantages are more portamento options and sysex support. I've had a Pro Solo since they came out, it's superb.

The SH2 has a portamento mode and I use it a few times, it actually does not belong to my music. For the sysex support I don't think I would need it, I bought the kenton only for the CV/gate->midi conversion, everything else is superflous.
