Good synths for leads?

Hi, I'm looking for a good synth for making leads on. I currently have a Novation Bass Station for bass parts but I would really like something polyphonic for leads.

The synth should have:
At least 6 note polyphony.
A three octave keyboard at minimum as I plan to use it as a controller keyboard as well, semi-weighted keys preferably.
Good MIDI implementation.
Analog or virtual analog synthesis.
Hands on programming preferably, although some menu programming is fine.

I don't really mind if it's old or new and cost is a factor, so I would like it to be no more than $600 AUD. Sorry if I made it a bit difficult for you guys.

Please reply if you have any suggestions.

Nord Lead perhaps?
20 voices polyphony, really great leads, great midi implementation, arpeggiator, cheap, lots of used ones on eBay, virtual analog.
Nuff said :D

Leads are generally monophonic, why do you want 6 voices? The only thing I could recommend would be an MS2000 but it only has 4 voices.

Mati: A Nord Lead is out of the price range.

Maybe stretch the budget and get a deal on a used Alesis Ion? Seems to be good for analog emulation and has a nice key action.

Leads are far better suited to mono's, or in the case of digital synths, just use the one OSC.
Of course you could stack them up for a unison type lead

Thanks for all of the replies guys. Sorry it has taken me so long to reply, I completely forgot about this thread. As for your suggestions, the Nord Lead is out of my price range unfortunately and the MS2000's four voices are a bit of a problem. I have checked out the Alesis Ion, it looks pretty good for what I want and there is one on eBay at the moment so that is looking pretty promising.

Thanks again for the suggestions.

Yes, esp for the price. Smooth buttery leads or hard sync leads... take your pick. :)
