hmmmm where to start? The absurd price, the abundance of explanation marks and caps, the pure hyperbole, or maybe the fact the guy thinks it will sell fast at 2k... umm I think not. :?

I guess it's expected from someone who tries to unload a Juno 60 for 1½K...

Well, there go my chances of getting a Juno anytime soon. Guess I'll stick to the TAL emulation of the 60....

I'd sell mine right away for $800! And I'd still be a little shocked if it sold...
Do not despair: it can't sell at such inflated price. Unless it's mint-wrapped in the original box, there is NO justification for a 106 over 1K if you just want to play with it.

Even if you found one still in the box it would most likely still have bad 80017A chips...

Juno-6s are still a bargain and don't have those chips...

I'm with synthparts on this. Every 106 will eventually suffer from dead 80017As. Mine looked as if it had recieved very little use with previous owners, but within a year of purchase, one chip failed. Another failed a few weeks later.

I wouldn't consider buying another 106 (or MKS7, MKS30, etc) unless all the offending chips had been replaced with clones, or it was cheap enough to cover the cost of their replacement. A lsiting may say "fully tested, 100% working" - and that is quite possibly true, but it could still fail tomorrow!

Mine is still ok for now (lucky me!).
Maybe not all the chips were wrong? Like some batteries that still last after 30 years, maybe some batch were better than others... But you are right: the risk is there!

There was a Roland service note that mentioned replacing a certain batch of chips. I think that was in the late 80s. That batch seemed to die after only a couple of years, but the rest seem to be failing now too. I guess external factors could affect things: Temperature, humidity, etc.

Mine has been sitting in the corner, unused for about a year now. I'll get around to getting the clones eventually, but I keep spending my money on other things! Same with fixing my Emulator II....

I'm not sure if this is ridiculous, but this MC 303 keeps popping on polish auctions

999 zł is equivalent of 330 $, which I find rather much for mid-90's rompler (the same money can get me used Blofeld or XV 5050).
