Guitar Center Hollywood has a Memorymoog for $3200. It works reasonably well, but feels like it needs all the buttons cleaned.

Is that actually a good price all told? Would I be wrong in thinking that the technology in these, the revolution and XS are basically the same? Has there been any major changes in basic VCO/VCF design in that they somehow sound different? Just curious..
I think it's a good price too.
The ''technology'' may be the same... but not the VCO/VCF specifications. The filter slopes are different (-18 or -42db/oct on the 777, -18db/oct on the revolution and -12db/oct on the XS. The oscilator choices are also different (continuously variable waveshape from saw to square on the 777 and more waveforms options on the XS, while the Revo has the TB saw and 'square' only).
They all sound distinct to me. The Revo is a 303 with some goodies and improved sequencer , the XS seems to remind a lot of people of the Pro-One (I never owned one to compare). There's nothing like a 777.

Fair enough. I gathered each was unique somehow. I've read one XS/pro-one comment, and while I can't compare them side by sound, I can say pretty easily they don't sound alike. the XS to me had a pretty tight, round Roland-esque tone and filter sound. Pro-1 is much rawer, "older" sounding (though still "tight" in it's own way). Obviously difference in terms of modulation though.

FYI

http://montreal.en.craigslist.ca/msg/2104676601.html

Synclavier PSMT for sale Montreal - $2000

"Known throughout the Vintage-Synth Industry as The King-Pin, The End-All of Vintage Synth's and NOT some goofy, garbage plug-in, this is THE real deal!"

Removed from a controlled studio environment from McGill University, alway's non-smoking, alway's clean. Last used and working nearly 1 years ago. I was present when we removed it and includes all associated cables, drives and Mac. It also comes with a huge sound library. My father loaned it to McGill University Psych ward for some study with sounds. Being a novice sound tech, I lack the necessary skills to hook it up properly and my father can no longer help me.
Anyone is free to come by and take a look at it. For someone like me who cannot use it to its full potential, it sure does take up a large amount of room.
Send me an email and I will send all serious inquiries my phone number.
Have a nice day

Well, after some further investigation, there's something fishy about that add...

http://matrixsynth.blogspot.com/2008/09 ... -psmt.html

The same pictures & story were already on the Internet 2 years ago, and the storage of the unit was then stated as 2 years earlier. So if it's the same unit, was it stored in 2006 or 2009? Or re-sold since then?

Very interesting item, but unless someone knows how to plug it and make it play, it's difficult to judge what's the story... I wonder if the seller will let me take a look, since I'm in Montreal too.

Ha! Viewed it once, and it got removed already. I love that message at the top of the screen: "The seller is away. There may be a delay processing your order." In other words, once they get the money and run, there's nothing Ebay can do to get your money back!"

This is more of a "scam alert" post - I noticed three super low priced vintage synths posted on the local CL:

http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwi/msg/2111308835.html
http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/msg/2111250153.html
http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/msg/2111135925.html

While I have no doubt these are scams, what's weird is that all three have this weird text at the bottom, all variations on "eue-mcaie". Nothing comes up on the internet, but where it does come up, it's for other "for sale" posts. Anyone know what it means? Is it like scammer code? At the very least, it's tipped me off to the scams almost immediately.
