Oberheim OBX

Post by BaseballPants » Sun Aug 30, 2009 4:48 am

Hi, I am interested in knowing the value of an Oberheim OBX 6-voice synth without midi? I have owned one for 12 years without any problems, but I am looking for something more stable and lighter for gigging. Something like the Andromeda or Prophet 8. Any other OBX owners out there?

Hi BaseballPants,

If you still have your OB-X, are you thinking of selling it? The guitarist in my band is a big fan of Killing Joke, who used the OB-X extensively back in the 1980's, and he's been looking for one for ages. I've tried keeping him happy by letting him use my Roland JP4, but it doesn't have anything like the same character as an Oberheim! I haven't seen an OB-X on eBay for quite some time, just a few OB-Xa and OB-8 which don't have the same discrete component design.

Cheers,

Chris
