I really need something with 4-6 channels that allows you to, at the very least, recall the relative volume of each channel with a program change message. I've been looking around and I'm wondering if it doesn't make sense to explore the digital realm here? I can't really avoid this requirement at this point.

I don't know if there is a specific product or sequencer with that exact function, but you could always try leaving your keyboards on an easy-to-remember volume setting (maximum, for instance) and save each patch with an appropriate VCA level for the song it belongs to.

That's exactly what I do with my keyboard rig but this is for a bass guitar synth rig.

I can't remember if the Niche ACM has a "Mix out" or if it is just 8 IN & 8 OUT.

Tascam made some mixers with "MIDI mute", but not volume.

MOTU made a 1U mixer with MIDI control over level, pan, bass, treble and 2 aux sends. 7 stereo ins, used to have one. I think it had a 'snapshot' mode which is what you're after.

Both sound very promising but I haven't been able to track either down. The search continues.
