I assume these are not interchangeable? What makes them different? Sorry if this is rather useless, but it's so frustrating to see Aieb1s all day and every day while Aieb2s are super-rare. :(

AIEB1 is for A-series samplers.

AIEB2 is for RS7000 and Motifs.

They add six analog outs, SPDIF I/O on RCA and optical.
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

Aieb1 can be used even with the yamaha su700

That seems to be what most sites say (as well as the SU), and yet yamaha.com claims the A4000/5000 takes the AIEB2, not the AIEB1. Perhaps the AIEB2 is backwards compatible?
