Strap on keyboards!
Hi everybody! I'm new here in the forum!
Could someone help me finding out some synths or midi controllers (if there is any) that can be strapped on but not so expensive as the new AX series from roland? I need it because I have to move on stage and I've thought that could exist some vintage model that I don't know and that could fit my needs.
Another question: is it possible to put two strap pins on a light midi controller without too much difficulties?

don't forget the sh101.
Re: Strap on keyboards!
Not vintage bu the MicroKORG would be easy to strap on. Juust remove two of the screws holding the wooden side pieces and replace them with strap buttons.

Casio AZ-1. Two MIDI channel-xmit, several control wheels, sliders... IIRC aftertouch. Make sure it works before buying... the custom MPU is made of solid unobtainium.

Re: Strap on keyboards!
i've had good success putting some strap buttons on an m-audio oxygen 8. i bought a rechargeable battery pack rather than using loads of AA batteries everytime. maybe look at the m-audio mid air as it has built in wireless midi rather than having to get a wireless midi unit or a really long cable. i just use a long cable into the midi in on my main controller.
i also put a little piece of 5mm aluminium behind the plastic and drilled through to just make the strap button more secure.
please whatever you do don't get a yamaha shs-10.

I just weighed my OB-Xa: 45 pounds. I'm sure the OB-X weighs that or more. That's a heavy keytar! I just weighed my KX5: only 7 pounds without 6 AA batteries.cornutt wrote:OB-X.![]()

Re: Strap on keyboards!
Wayne eventually had a tech take the guts out, put them in an offstage rack, and connect it to the shell via a long multi-conductor cable. I don't know how much weight it really saved. He has back problems now.Z wrote:I just weighed my OB-Xa: 45 pounds. I'm sure the OB-X weighs that or more. That's a heavy keytar!
