If i sell my JP6 any modern day equivalent
I am thinking of selling my jp6 with europa i have a few local parties interested in it as much as i love it, it doesnt get the use it should. Also i find my self worrying about future problems with it part of the fun of vintage analogs I have also recently narrowed down my synths to just my jp6 virus ti and voyager. Any recommendations if i do sell it something to replace that void i will be missing in my synths. I am really on the fence with this one. thanks guys.

The Jupiter 6 is one of the most reliable VCO synths ever made. I bought mine new in 1983 and it has never needed anything besides battery replacement. Unless there is something about the sound of it you don't like you would probably be better off keeping it. It's a unique instrument with no modern equivalent and the value will most likely continue to go up.
Prophet 5 rev.2, Pro-One, Juno 60, Jupiter 6, Matrix 12, OB8, MS20, Poly 800, CS70M, DX-7, CP35, Casio PX-5S, Hammond C3/M102, Vox Continental/Super Continental, Gibson G101, Farfisa Compact, RMI 300A, Pianet N, Combo Pianet, S770, S760, S50, NS3C

Depends on what you're trying to replace. The JP6 is kind of unique in timbre. Closest character without the highpass filtering stuff would be the first 3 revs of the MKS-80. Oberheim Xpander should cover similar ground and more. If you mean something cheaper, perhaps Nord Lead 2?
I am no longer in pursuit of vintage synths. The generally absurd inflation from demand versus practical use and maintenance costs is no longer viable. The internet has suffocated and vanquished yet another wonderful hobby. Too bad.

It's quite difficult to get top price at this moment..You should hang on to it and they seem to be reliable.

Wait... you're worried about problems with a J6 and you're thinking about picking up an Ody...?????? Odyssey sliders are a terrible and expensive maintenance issue.
Having said that, it's one of my absolute favorite synths ever, and if equipped with updated sliders (look at the Lumina's for example) it should be as reliable as a J6. The Lumina upgrade costs more than I paid for either of my mk1 Ody's though.

This thread is a year old. He's probably bought & sold the Oddy by now.
