What do you guys think about this synth? I personally think it sounds pretty cool, but I'm not that familiar with mono-analog synths. I hear sometimes people say it's not really a Moog cause it was made for Radioshack. I just won it for $330 shipped but, seems the contacts or pots are dirty cause it was described as sometimes not making sound. Seller has no feedback as well. This was just an impulse buy, but hopefully everything turns out ok.
Bad buy or good buy? assuming everything turns out ok.. that is..

Ask Automatic Gainsay
Oh, and even if it doesn't work or only halfway works, i'd fine one interesting to fix...

Re: Realistic Concertmate Moog MG-1
I asked the seller if he could get any sounds to come out by constantly pressing the keys, and he said seven of the keys didn't make any noise. Could it still be possible that the contacts or pots are just dirty? Also, why do you say it would be an interesting fix? Are these hard to fix? Hope not.. haha

No, its all analog... should be much easier than the digitally controlled analogs or the digital synths to fix. Would be easier to me because i can understand what the circuits are doing.

Oh.. sorry I never really understood what contacts and pots were but that makes sense now.. Sorry, for the ignorance haha.. I've been watching Automatic Gainsay's videos on the MG-1 seems like a really neat synth. Quite impressed actually.. Now I just need to know if I overpaid for the synth.

Re: Realistic Concertmate Moog MG-1
330 Dollars is a good price for a Realistic MG-1. Most go for between 250 and 500 on eBay, as I've lately been watching pretty much every single analog synth for the past month. A good vintage monosynth.
Would have no idea about fixing it though, I've touched a solder maybe once, twice in my life.

You might as well plan to replace all the pots and switches. You'll find the innards coated with black, sticky 'tar' from the decaying foam dust shield. What a !@#!@$# MESS !!
Technology Transplants sells a kit for about $100 with all pots and switches. They have sets of replacement knobs also. Good luck.
