workstation + midi contorler / or? [help]

Post by selfade » Thu Feb 10, 2011 4:01 pm

Hi there.

This was my first post
http://www.vintagesynth.com/forum/viewt ... 19&t=60246
And i bought Akai Miniak. I can control it very well, bud still - there is no way that this synth could do what i want it to. So I`ve sold it and now I need to choose something more wisely.

What I want to do?

I want to be able to play whole song on my synt. To create few layers of sounds, and to edit and tweak them individualy and on the fly. And also - i need a lot of patches and at least a few drums and drum presets. I like real instruments sounds on MicroX (guitar, piano).

So what should I buy?
I was thinking about two options.

1. rack synth/workstation + midi controler
2. korg microX + sequencer

what would be better choice?

KORG Has some interesting options. there's the m3, the m50, and soon to be, the kronos; any of these would do the job great.

E-MU Command Station and appropriate ROM(s) and a MIDI controller if you need a keyboard. I don't know which ROM(s) would be right for the sounds you'd want but some searching around would probably clear that up.
