Just checking, is 1000$ AUD inc Postage/Handling a good deal?
It has a broken amp chip, or so the guy thinks.
For a KORG Mono/Poly?

If buying in australia there is generally a higher price than other countries..
usually it is cheaper by about 15-20% to order from the US, but you don't want to be doing that with something broken that you might have to return because postage costs + timeframe will soon even out the savings..

Re: $1000 for Mono/Poly?
If it's not fully functional I think $1000AU is too much.
I paid $850 for mine in 2008.

Re: $1000 for Mono/Poly?
Compare the MonoPoly's sound and functionality to that of some other vintage analog synths, and that should give you an indication of what you can feel comfortable playing. Apart from the nostalgia factor, I'd take a MonoPoly over an ARP Odyssey any day. It lacks the genre identification some other synths have, but it is at least as powerful as they are, and in some cases has a better sound.
As incredible as this sounds, I'd say the damned thing is worth nearly as much as an Odyssey or MS-20 (although now you're paying for status and genre identification with both of those).
That being said, do not pay anything remotely close to top dollar for one that is broken. Do some research to discover how much repair would cost, and subtract that from a price you'd feel comfortable paying for an unbroken one.

Re: $1000 for Mono/Poly?
i paid 800 $ for mine last year . it cost me 360$ in servicing and there was nothing broken . just the the usual cleaning ,tuning, re-capping ... now some keys starts to die out. i will have to pay again to get the key contact fixed or chaged .
so dont forget to add up the general maintenance you will probably have to pay for in addition to the ''repairs''.
if it hasnt been serviced in a while you might have to get it re-capped and everything.

Watch out with buying gear with "small" problems.(i know from experience
)
Ask him to get it repaired and then pay him the 1000 AUD,sounds much better.

$1200-1600 has been the going ebay price in the US for a fully functional one.

Thanks for the info.
I probably won't take the offer unless he lowers it.
