Hi,
since I finally have a Mac (Pro 15" i7) I need a audio interface to replace my E-mu's 1212m, can
any one give some ideas because I'm a noob regarding Macs.
The price will be at 150 € ( 210 USD).
Thank you in advance for your help.

Re: Mac audio Interface
there are so many USB & firewire interfaces out there, you're best off going through a retailer's list.

Re: Mac audio Interface
Pretty much any USB or Firewire interface that works on PC will also work on a Mac. That's a pretty low budget though, I haven't used anything in that price range so couldn't recommend any of them. Just go to thomann and sort in ascending price and see what looks good to you. I've heard the Lexicon Omega is pretty decent, but haven't used one so don't know for sure.

If I could do-over this particular bit of gear acquisition, I'd get a mixer/USB audio interface combo. The Alesis Multimix 8 has one recommendation in the mixer suggestions thread, & it's right around your price point.

The problem is theres a multimix USB and a multimix USB 2.0. The "USB" ones are mixers with a usb audio out for the *mix*, while the USB 2.0 (and firewire) units send all channels to the computer

Hi,
thanks for your help.
I need only a two chanel recording but a very goo sound qualaty fot audio reproduction,
because I will use some softsynths.
The Alesis Mulltimix series are the perfect but how they sound as audio cards?
Other good choice is the M-Audio Fast Track.

Re: Mac audio Interface
The only choice is a Mackie Black Jack

It's solid, made entirely in metal. It gives you 2 high-end Onyx mic preamps and Cirrus Logic converter (114db dynamic range).
In this price range, nothing beats it.

I wouldn't recommend an Alesis multimix, like smoothcriminal suggested. It includes extremely low spec 16 bit converters, worse than on your old Emu 1212m. Probably even worse than your Mac's sound card!

Re: Mac audio Interface
The Makcie seems a good option but dos it have XLR inputs?
The manual says it as.
I already have a Alesis Multimix 8 and I like it.
Any more opinions?
Thanks a lot.
