Which Kaoss Pad should I get?
Hello, I'm new, I just started getting into synths. I'm looking into getting a kaoss pad to have some on the fly effects. I have been thinking of just getting the miniKP. I assume I only need basic effects but the Quad also looks like it would be right there in front of me with all the buttons to push. Any opinions?

...and my opinion is that cool as the Kaoss line is, they're better served as a dessert than a main course. Iow, a proper synth is much more useful, and if you want effects, besides what may be already part of the synth, there are also better choices.
Bassist, synth junkie

To be a little more clear. I was planning on using it with my monotribe. I also have a "classic" monotron and was even considering getting the Delay variation.Rick N Boogie wrote:...and my opinion is that cool as the Kaoss line is, they're better served as a dessert than a main course. the miniKP is a great deal these days, I have one and I love it - the big boys are cool with the sampling and MIDI and all, but the mini is a blast and I think it'd go great with a Monotribe
to be fair though, if I were in your position I'd be drooling over an MFB 522 as a Monotribe buddy

I think your right on both counts. I actually regrettable sold a DR-110 last year which I would of kept if I knew that I could of synced it up with the monotribe. That MFB 522 looks really good right now.Hair wrote:the miniKP is a great deal these days, I have one and I love it - the big boys are cool with the sampling and MIDI and all, but the mini is a blast and I think it'd go great with a Monotribe

I think you should look at the new MiniKaossPad 2. On that baby you can sample the incoming audio, and from what I can understand, you should be able to resample ad infinitum. I already have the original MiniKP and the KaossPad Quad, and I'm getting the MiniKP 2 as well

Re: Which Kaoss Pad should I get?
The Monotron and MiniKP is a fun little combination.
The original is cheap these days but maybe you should get the 2 .

Does the 2 have any added effects bonus minus recording and Mp3 pliability. I'm mainly concerned with the effects.

Re: Which Kaoss Pad should I get?
Years ago I got the KP2 and yknow, out of the 100 preset effects, there were several that I actually liked. I used it once and awhile, then sold it...
Recently I got a kp3 for the sampling capabilities (out of necessity) and again, there are few effects that I like and use... I dont really need the sampling option anymore so Im gonna take it back and get what I really want.
KPquad. Make your own effect chain. Win.

When will the miniKP2 be in stock? I like that the in and outs are 1/8 besides RCA.
