best -Juno60- retrofit for today
I've decided to midi my JU60,so - what would you recommend? What's the best for money retrofit for today?
I don't need any extra sound banks, lfos and so on, I just want something stable that won't bug and any hurt my Juno.
(Arpeggiator synchronisation is must)
Kenton
Minerva
CHD
MD8
?

Why not a Kenton Pro DCB? I have one for my JP8 and it is great. The same one with a 14 pin connector will work with a Juno 60, but my only woe is that there is no pitch bend midi control. The upside is that you don't have to drill holes into it for midi ports, but if you are cool with that Kenton also offer a retrofit allowing even pitchbend and other useful features.

I have the Dtronics / Engineers@work interface which you install instead of the DCB port. It's only note on / off, no arp sync or other fancy stuff, but it's definitely the cheapest and I like the fact that it's internal. Note on / off is enough for me, as I can sync the arp with triggers from my drum machines, which is also more fun than a simple clock because you can program rhythms... No option for you to use triggers for the arp sync?

I installed the Minerva into mine, easy, no holes to drill, good price and well specified.

They say threre are some bugs in Minerva, can you confirm this information?
Re: best -Juno60- retrofit for today
I'm having a Minerva kit installed in my Juno 60 by a tech. I don't have it back yet so I can't comment from personal experience. But after following various threads at other forums it seems as if the problems have been fixed by the latest firmware, v1.4.

The only bug I've encountered with the Dtronics / Engineers@work interface is that notes will hang when you send midi clocks to it... I just filter the clock out in Ableton to fix this. Might not apply to the other interfaces though...

minerva is the best if you using ableton live / cc automatisation. not expensive, extra functions, good support, no drilling.

My Juno 60 is in for Minerva installation. Adds MIDI-syncable LFO, expanded Patch storage, and Filter Envelope functions in addition to MIDI.

Re: best -Juno60- retrofit for today
I had a CHD, worked fine for MIDI I/O, ended up selling it, now I trigger the Juno's Arp with one of the channels on my Vermona DRMII. Advantage with this is I can set the pulse to whatever swing or off-beat pattern I'd like and it stays locked in sync.
I'd recommend this method of programming pulses over MIDI if you want to use the Juno's built in arpeggiator, and recommend and MIDI I/O box if you want to sequence the Juno externally.
