8bit osc+Analog filter synth
I had a Shruti-1, but I don't use it all the time.
but I don't like this 8bit wavetable.
so I pounded the google looking for 8bit chiptune osc(nes or sid emulating).
If somebody else has an alternative synth please come up with it

ESQ-1 or SQ-80?
It's not analogue but the Monomachine can sound very NES or SID like.

Korg Poly800. It's analogue but the oscillators are based on the chips used in some vintage arcade consoles and can do nice chip tune sounds. Check Alex's video:

I wouldn't say a six track sounds exactly what you'd call 8bit...not even close. Some consoles may have used the same chips but that's where the similarity ends.

The ESQ and SQ80 have 8-bit digital waves and analog filtersArddhu wrote:ESQ-1 or SQ-80?

I'm assuming by specifying 8-bit oscillators you mean digital.

Yes. That's why I suggested them. I was referring to the Monomachine not having any analogue components.rhino wrote:The ESQ and SQ80 have 8-bit digital waves and analog filtersArddhu wrote:ESQ-1 or SQ-80?

Re: 8bit osc+Analog filter synth
not sure why you want "emulating" since you mentioned you have a shruthi, which is hardware ?...can you expand on the emulating part
... for the price of that shruthi, you could buy a Commodore 64 with Mssiah, or an NES with midiNES...or you could just buy a gameboy with a flashed cartridge and put some of the coin from selling the shruthi back in your pocket

Have you ever used one?severen wrote: I think SQ80 is more lofi(like ppg) than chip

just using sq80l vsti and watching sq80 youtube videos.
monomachine is not analog.Arddhu wrote:ESQ-1 or SQ-80?

chiptune = digital ...why are you mentioning analogseveren wrote:monomachine is not analog.

Re: 8bit osc+Analog filter synth
I think this is a key point. Not much room for "analogue warmth" in chiptune land. What you probably want is something with colourful DACs rather than an analogue filter.kushwonder wrote:chiptune = digital ...why are you mentioning analogseveren wrote:monomachine is not analog.

I just want dirty digital osc with analog 24db filter color.Arddhu wrote:I think this is a key point. Not much room for "analogue warmth" in chiptune land.
