just got into wanting one of these. looking for some basic info.

whats a good price?
if something needs fix, motor/tape/anything involving with those, on average is it going to drain the bank?
heard these need a lot of maintenance, ie demagnetizing the heads. how often do you need to do that or any other maintenance?
any other thoughts you might want to add?
what do you dis/like about it?
is it worth it?

Got one. It's cool but not as chaotic as I hoped. I guess it's wearing out. Cleaning it with alcohol and replacing the tape made it useable but still pretty quiet repeats.

If the motor is f**k, it's gonna be expensive. Otherwise, go for it, it's a lovely machine.

ThereĀ“s an internal trimmer called "feedback intensity" or something -- adjusting this worked miracles on my 501.
