What to get....
I appreciate there will be many threads around the "What would you buy with $1,000" theme, and didn't want to start another, but I got a bit of a surprise at work last week when I got an unexpected relocation allowance of £600 ($900) for moving a few miles further down the road.
I had been considering the Minibrute/Microbrute, but had also been looking at the Waldorf Rocket, along with the DSI Mopho and the Korg Volca series.
Then again, should I put it towards the Nord Lead 4.
Something for settee playing would be good, but so would some more serious kit. Compact is a great consideration, as I am running out of space.
Bit of a head scratcher at the moment.
Any thoughts?
Kind regards,
Phil

Re: What to get....
I think the waldorf rocket looks really interesting for the price, simple yes but still looks a lot of fun and takes up hardly any room. I used to own a dsi mopho kb and liked the keyboard action and interface but the sound didn't do much for me personally.

Any existing gear and what do you intend with new purchase?

Waldorf Pulse 2.
Re: What to get....
A fun lounge synth would be the desktop evolver, especially if you're into droney stuff and Berlin school style sequencing - then you wouldn't even need a keyboard!

Re: What to get....
The Evolver certainly looks interesting. Despite my many visits to Dave's site, I hadn't seen this before. It's lack of headphone socket could be a problem, especially for lounge work.
This is something I'll have to check for on my shortlist before making a final decision.
I don't play in a band, just for myself, but my music teacher seems increasingly interested in laying down some tracks, so you never know.
I do have quite a bit of equipment, list and pics >here<.
Kind regards,
Phil

Somehow an imagery of a Minibrute cutting through your sonic library came to mind..

I'm a DSI fan so would point you at Evolver or Mopho.
Rocket's severely limited EG is showstopper for me, for that price I would go MicroBrute.

I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

Re: What to get....
there should be a sticky at the top of this forum "Looking for a decent synth in your price range" and the only post in it is this.
All kidding aside, this could be the go to suggestion for a long time

Re: What to get....
Narrowed it down a little, for the time being; though I might change my mind soon.
I have my eye on: a Mopho, Microbrute, and M-audio Axiom 61, as my other midi controller is USB only.
Still a bit undecided on the Mopho, but it would be nice to own a piece of DSI.
Kind regards,
Phil

Re: What to get....
Found a shop having a bit of a sale, so I bought my first item:-
Was it a banjo, was it a flute, no it was ........ a Microbrute!
Kind regards,
Phil

Re: What to get....
Nice one. I love mine, it's far more versatile than its size implies.

Honestly, with all the gear you have, I'd say -
Spend the money on drugs and lock yourself in the studio for a few days
